Mi Amor Clothing Boutique

Angela, please describe your business / organization? What do you do and how do you do it? Mi Amor Clothing Boutique is funky clothing store that brings in apparel that is designed to fit, flatter and inspire women of all shapes.

What is one thing you’re most proud of so far? We are proud to carry many “Made in Canada” lines. Quality fabrics, affordable, incredible fit and washable.

How does being involved in the community affect your business? Penticton is an amazing community and we are blessed to be a part of it. We have enjoyed participating in so many wonderful events over the years.
Angela, how many years have you been in business / operation? We have been in Penticton for almost 8 years.

What is an interesting fact about your organization that most people don’t know? I started my business 26 years in the Fraser Valley. I designed and manufactured my own line for 15 years and it was called Uncommon Thredz.

Do you have a personal or professional motto? My personal and professional motto is that all women are beautiful no matter what size you are. Forget what the fashion magazines say and be happy!

Who are the people in the background of your organization? It’s just me.

What are some reasons you enjoy being a member of the Penticton Chamber of Commerce? I am not as active as I once was but I believe the Chamber is a great way to become part of the business community.

How can people keep up to date on what’s happening at your organization? We have just launched an online store and I would recommend signing up for our newsletter.

We are very active on Facebook and Instagram.

Share with us when / why you made the decision to start your own business/organization? I graduated from UFV for Fashion Design in 1992 and I wanted to create a job that I loved.

If you could choose anyone as a mentor, who would you choose and why? Shannon Passero, designer and store owner, has done an amazing job creating a shopping experience for women.

Anything else you want the community to know about your business? With 26 years’ experience in designing, buying and dressing women I am happy to help you build your perfect wardrobe.

How long have you been in the Okanagan? If you aren’t originally from the valley, what led you to call the Okanagan home? Downtown Penticton is charming and quaint with so many quality businesses. I have been here almost 8 years. I am proud to be a part of it.

What are your biggest challenges as an organization? My biggest challenge is planning and managing inventory in the slower winter months.

What are the biggest rewards? My customers and the relationships that we have formed are my biggest reward. They are the only reason I have managed to survive COVID this past year.

What’s one piece of advice you would give someone starting a business in Penticton and area? Do something you absolutely love. Do as much planning and research as you can before you start. Know that it will take time. Don’t give up.

Angela who inspires you? Happy people that dream big and are not afraid to leave their comfort zone.
