This weekend workshop will give students a workout true to the form and mechanics of improv for performance. From spontaneity, to lateral thinking, to story structure and most especially, character creation.

Learn to be present and create scenes from nothing. Build trust, confidence and comfort in your acting performance by learning the pillars of improv: say yes, listen, see where “mistakes” lead you, be generous and make the other actors look good!

Time: 1pm to 5pm each day

Lauren McGibbon is and actor and improvisor based in Vancouver. She began her improv training with Vancouver Theatresports in 2009. In 2010 she joined Instant Theatre, and improv company focused in the tradition of Chicago long form as created by Del Close. Lauren also studied in Los Angeles at Second City, The Groundlings and Upright Citizens Brigade. Lauren joined the Mainstage ensemble at Vancouver Theatresports in 2012

Since then, Improv has taken Lauren across the globe at festivals including Bristol United Kingdom, Improvaganza in Edmonton, DüoFestin Philadelphia, Stumptown in Portland, as well as playing on stages in L.A., New York, and Atlanta. She can also boast to having performed in international waters on Princess Cruises.

Lauren began training with Kate Twa at Railtown Actors Studio in Vancouver in 2012. Her film and television credits include Lemony Snicketts a Series of Unfortunate Events, Army of One and Trial and Error.
