Fees & Admission:
Please pre-register – Submit your question in the registration form comment box or email it to admin@penticton.org. The Chamber reserves the right to modify or reject any submitted questions if it is derogatory in nature or is meant to attack or support a particular Candidate or party.

The next federal election is on September 20, 2021 and our role as a Chamber of Commerce is to ensure that the concerns of the businesses are front and foremost. As a service to our members, we have invited all registered candidates in the South Okanagan - West Kootenay riding, to participate in a virtual all candidates forum.

This year, we're focusing on the Canadian Chamber's "What it takes to Grow - Priorities for the next parliament" as well as diving into the critical issues that impact our growing region including affordable housing, inter-provincial trade, infrastructure investments, global competitiveness, and responding to labour market demands. READ MORE of the Canadian Chamber's Recommendations.

On Friday, September 10th, via Zoom and Facebook Live from 5:00 pm- 6:30pm, we’ll have a formal panel session moderated by Jonathan McGraw, President, Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce with questions being put to the candidates that have been submitted from local business leaders.

The Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce is a non-partisan organization and does not endorse any specific political candidates or party.

The following rules and procedures will be in place for the forum.

1. Candidates will be provided a set time to introduce themselves at the start (two minutes - alphabetical).

2. Questions prepared in advance will be randomly put to candidates - the first candidate will be given extra time (two minutes) to respond then other candidates will also be given a shorter amount of time (one minute) to also respond to that question. With each question, the first candidate to respond will rotate until each candidate has had at least one opportunity to go first. We hope to have at least two rounds of questions as time allows.

3. Attendees to the forum can send a question but it a) must be sent in advance to admin@penticton.org and b) not be directed to any specific candidate as that will be chosen randomly by the moderator. The Chamber reserves the right to modify or reject any submitted questions if it is derogatory in nature or is meant to attack or support a particular candidate or party. All responses will be timed.

4. All candidates will be provided opportunity for concluding remarks at the end (two minutes) going in the reverse order as the start (reverse  alphabetical).

This event is free but attendees via Zoom must pre-register. Those registered will be provided a link and access code prior to the forum.

2021 Candidates (in alphabetical order) all have confirmed to participate

Richard Cannings, New Democratic Party of Canada (incumbent)
Tara Howse, Green Party of Canada
Helena Konanz, Conservative Party of Canada
