Campaign to Support Local Business

MEDIA RELEASE

Penticton, January 23, 2019 – The Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce launches campaign to support local businesses.

#PentictonFirst

The Penticton and Wine Country Chamber of Commerce launches #PentictonFirst campaign to encourage our membership, the business community at large, and all Pentictonites to support one another when the opportunity arises.

The #PentictonFirst campaign gives participants entries to win significant quarterly prize draws while buying products and services from local businesses. The rules are simple – one entry will be awarded each time you shop at a local business and post on the social media platform of your choice including the hashtag #PentictonFirst, tag @chamberpenticton, and either check-in at the business or include a photo of the business in your post.

Each #PentictonFirst post will be entered to win our quarterly prize. The first prize will be drawn on April 5, 2019 for the first quarter. This prize includes one night’s accommodation at Chute Lake Lodge for two people, full day bike rental for 2 from the lodge to ride down KVR to Penticton with shuttle from Penticton back to Chute Lake for 2, and a 1-hour canoe rental at Chute Lake. This prize is valued at $320 and has been provided by Hoodoo Adventure Company.        .

Studies show that for every $100 spent at a local businesse, $68 will stay in the local economy, while spending $100 at a non-local business returns $43 to the local economy.

Considering local organizations in the coming weeks and months has potential to provide a needed boost to local businesses allowing them and their employees to stay afloat. As a customer or client, you will ensure your favorite store, coffee shop, restaurant, or activity is here to stay.

We all rely on one another to keep the business cycle turning. Many organizations rely on a seasonal influx of visitors to our beautiful city. While this will remain the case, we must not forget that these businesses desire to operate twelve months a year.

The Chamber wishes to encourage you to explore a local shop you’ve yet to stop in to, become a tourist in your own town, try a new restaurant or experience, spend an evening at a Vees game, a concert or play. Invite family and friends. Soak in all this wonderful city has to offer.
