They hand stitch every kilt using traditional methods that they perfected with the help and guidance of industry professionals in Scotland. They import fabric and other products from Scotland and export the kilts worldwide. They turned a basement business making kilts for local pipe bands into an international business making kilts for companies, clan societies, pipe bands, and individuals as far away as New Zealand. They do rentals for weddings and Scottish events, and also made a hand stitched tam for the Peach in 2018!

Life experience is the education I value. My parents growing up always gave me every opportunity to learn from them during their time running Affordable Storage and other functions in the community. Before settling down to run my family business, I tried everything from wine country videographer to Costa Rica Bar Management and lots in between, not always successful, but always learning.  In my 7 years at Affordable I have experienced all aspects of running a successful sustainable business. Our business model focuses around “three C’s” Take care of Customers, Co-workers, Community, the rest is easy. I am constantly working to improve my personal education/skillset and am excited at the opportunity to take on more of an active role in the community.

I moved to Penticton in 1989 and have been involved with the city ever since. Currently I represent the Penticton Industrial Development Association on the chamber board and I give a voice to the second largest economic driver in the city. I have been on many different city committees and been involved with everything from school P.A.Cs to being the president of the local rugby club.

I feel that after 3 years on the board I have found my voice representing a group that is not glamourous or respected by city hall. the people who I am proud to stand for are the blue collar workers who are the unsung heroes of our economy. Currently the industrial area is under pressure from the city: losing transportation routes, losing land and facing mounting pressures from a city council that does not seem to understand how important year round mortgage paying jobs are.

I feel that our city needs to protect the industry and year round well-paying jobs, and I would like to be the voice on the Chamber Board to hold councils feet to the fire and help provide solutions to our current problems so Penticton can grow into the future.
