The Be BOLD - Penticton Report is HERE!
The information contained within this report is based on the thoughts and perceptions of the people who participated in this initiative. The purpose of this document is to capture the creative ideas of the business community, and use this information to stimulate discussion on creative ways to generate jobs and increased economic activity.
During the period from April to August 2014 members of the Penticton and Wine Country Chamber of Commerce were invited to participate in the 'Be BOLD – Penticton' initiative; a grass roots discussion with the objective of bringing forward ideas to increase the prosperity of the region.
The campaign began in April 2014 with a social media discussion encouraging people to come forward with their 'big bold ideas'. This discussion spring-boarded from the findings of the 2013 Vital Signs Report compiled by the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan | Similkameen which addressed several issues of interest to our business community.
In May, a forum was held bringing together members of the Chamber to discuss the opportunities and challenges of doing business in the region, and asked to bring forward their 'bold ideas'. The information gathered from the forum was compiled and vetted through the Chamber Board of Directors. In August, a roundtable discussion was hosted by the Chamber with members of the business community which were recently recognized during the forty-week ‘Top 40 under 40’ Campaign.
This report is a culmination of the information gathered through the initiatives noted above. The information is grouped into general themes which were brought forward during discussions on how to improve the economic prosperity of the region. The information generated through the 'Be Bold – Penticton' is summarized in the following topics.
